Snow, spirits and the last stretch

We are at the final moments and are excited to show you the last devlog, a lot of new addition to the game and the final moment before the public demo is available

It´s time to give the game some of its missing personality, weather events, new models for the rocks and finally the long awaited spirits, which where supposed to be the main event of the game

So, what’s new this time?

Spirits finally join the world

Until now, spirits existed mostly as an idea and a few test scenes. They’re finally in the game for real: spirits can now spawn dynamically in the world.

That means you’ll start seeing these little guys appear around your map as you play. For now they just move around and die once the resources are depleted, but ideally they should be a little more reactive

Right now we’re focusing on making their behavior feel natural: where and when they appear,  and how they coexist with your factories and the environment.



A new weather events: Snow and rain

The world of EcoFactory now has proper weahter events, snow and rain

When a snow event starts, snow particles will begin to fall over the terrain, changing the atmosphere of the map and also slowing down some of your extractors and killing spirits so be carefull once this event begins

Also we have Rain which comes with lightning, the lightning can destroy your buildings and destroy resources whith everything in them, so be prepered to lose some progress, unless you are lucky of course.

The rain can also add a new modifer called wet, which even tho the destruction of the envioroment is the same, the amount of resources you take are less.

All of this events are able to appear at random intervals throught the game, so always be on your toes

The end of the devlogs… for now

With spirits spawning, snow falling and modifiers starting to change the rules, we’re getting closer to the point where EcoFactory stops being just a tech playground and starts feeling like an actual game.

This will be the last devlog before we shift our focus to preparing the first demo build. There’s still a lot to fix, tune and polish, but from now on most of the work will be about turning these systems into fun, coherent gameplay.
